Let me introduce myself ...

I'm Paige, and I have Gastroparesis, Mals, Nutcracker Syndrome, and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I was told on Friday, October 27th that I'm terminal.  I could really use your help.

Sooo, December 5th 2022, I first got admitted to Houston Methodist in Houston Texas. This was immediately following imaging (done at the medical center in Port Arthur), where they looked at my results and immediately sent me to Houston, due to the severity of the situation.

Everything was pretty decent (I thought) until the images were read. At that point, my life changed forever.

Up until the imaging, I had lost every bit of 40 pounds (if not more), had no appetite, got violently sick if I did try to eat; the pain was unbearable, unimaginable.

So I go to Houston as they recommended, I got admitted, the first stay was only 2 weeks.

Within those 2 weeks, they had a surgery that they came and talked to me about that would save my stomach, but it was a high risk surgery. I was already a high risk patient, having low blood pressure, sugar, all the good stuff.

If you can imagine being put to sleep 5 plus hours and you’re already a high risk, you could see where they declined it in the end.

So instead of saving my stomach, they put a central line in, put me on TPN and sent me home. TPN is I.V. nutrition, which is broken down as much as you can get, it goes directly to where it’s needed after the digestive tract (my entire digestive tract doesn't work). However, it is the most expensive option. Each bag is tailored exactly to my body; they go off of blood work, and build it around that. Each bag is anywhere from $1200-1500 a bag, not including supplies, the pump, etc.

So we discovered I have Gastroparesis, Mals, Nutcracker syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome. All of which are rare conditions, especially all together. I’m like a unicorn of the medical field. They’ve found extra arteries that aren’t supposed to be there, extra large blood vessels that aren’t supposed to be there, they told me that each time they thought they were making progress, something else went wrong. So long story short, I spent around 4 months in Houston total, they completely gave up on me because they couldn’t fix me. But before they sent me on my way, I had a pylorectomy done, which is cutting the stomach muscle on the inside, in hopes of making food move. Which ended up a failed surgery. A 3 hour surgery turned into 5, because I had serious complications.

eSo here I am, no better than in the beginning and they’re done with me, because I’m too complex, I got sent to Dallas/Fort Worth for more advanced doctors, I since then have had a gastric stimulator system placed, which has not worked either, I have a g/j tube (feeding tube) which I can no longer tolerate the formula for that. I have a huge pocket of buildup blood as a complication of the stimulator surgery. I also have a port, which is how I receive Tpn nutrition. On top of all that, my veins are collapsing and I need a transplant, but guess what isn't a thing yet?

My health insurance used to be blue cross blue shield, but they rolled it over to atena, which made it go up more by 40$. I cannot just drop my insurance, for obvious reasons, such as I would literally starve to death. And everything was found with this insurance, so if I lose it, it’s called preexisting, which no other insurance will cover my conditions then.

My health insurance is 867.07 a month, I’m currently waiting on a court date for my temporary disability case, I have worked my entire life, up until a year ago. This has changed my life in every angle and aspect you could think about. And I pray daily none of y’all, ever have to ever feel or go through what I’m going through. It has changed me as a person completely. I used to work, drink with friends, run the roads, all that’s over with. I’ve lost “friends”, “family”, you name it. But it was a reality check for sure.

Now, I have the right people in my corner. I am just asking for help, any amount of help would be greatly appreciated. I have hard copies of my health records, imaging, and any other medical related report, I’m open about any of it if anyone would like to see them.

I have a 5 year old daughter that me and my ex wife share, and if nobody else genuinely cares, I know my Taelynn does. If you can’t help financially, I’m always open to hugs and conversation. Please if you can find it somewhere inside to help me, it would forever be appreciated. Thank y’all for y’all’s time.
